Member Ahlul Bayt (a) World Assembly praises Supreme Leaders proposing Economic Jihad as the motto for the New Year and calls for founding economic growth on Islamic laws.

Ayatollah Mahdi Hadavi Tehrani, member of supreme board of Ahlul Bayt World Assembly said,"Naming each year and deciding a message for each year does not mean ignoring other aspects; hence it does not mean that in the year of Economic Jihad, social, cultural and political aspects are ignored", reported Taqrib News Agency (TNA).

According to TNA, the cleric praised the innovation of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei to name each year and determine the general guideline of the country.

Member of Ahlul Bayt world Assembly also stressed that when a phrase is proposed in Islamic context, it has to be interpreted accordingly.

Iranian religious figure defined Jihad as to strive in much bigger than its usual scale and said, "Jihad is a sincere worshipping of God and is based on Islamic law." Adding that, "General activities to be done in the year of Economic Jihad have to be carried with regard to the public interests rather than factional profits.

"Intention of the Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei in naming the year as the year of Economic Jihad was to call for more attention of the people as well as authorities to economic issues," Hadavi Tehrani said, stressing that economic jihad has to be based on Islamic laws.

According to this religious figure, on the one hand economic jihad aims at uprooting poverty and on the other hand it is meant for a fair distribution of wealth; therefore the general policy in the New Year has to be focused on narrowing the gap between the poor and the rich and to guide the efforts of the authorities in line with realization of economic justice.

Head of Revaghe Hekmat Institute said economy has always been an important pillar in Islam but it has to transcend Islam because economic view in Islam is actually merged with spirituality.
