Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani speaking in a gathering on the occasion of the night of Qadr (the Grand Night) underscored the importance of reviving these nights saying that scientific dialogues are one of the best deeds that can be performed on these nights. He also noted that one who engages in du’a and supplication should make sure that he does all this sincerely and wholeheartedly. “The presence of scholars and learned people in the gatherings held on the nights of Qadr provides an opportunity for people to promote their religious knowledge and understanding.”

Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani, lecturer of the advanced level of jurisprudence and legal theories, speaking to Mehr reporter about the blessings of the night of Qadr, said, “The nights of Qadr are better than a thousand months and the whole life. We must benefit from these nights in a collective manner. We must take part especially in the gatherings in which we can promote our understanding and knowledge of the religion. As late Shaykh Abbas Qommi said, the best deed in the nights of Qadr is to engage in a scientific conversation. The scholars and learned people in attendance actually provides an opportunity for people to promote their religious knowledge.

The president of the Porch of Wisdom Institute further added, “One of the effective elements in a supplication is the place where we engage in a du’a. It has been recommended that a part of your house be allocated for prayer and this indicates that the prayer is in itself a clear manifestation of dua. The Arabic word ‘salat’ means du’a (supplication) and in some narrations it has been referred to as the ‘pillar of the religion’. We must, therefore, attach great importance to it. In fact, prayer is itself a du’a which we must further engage in it.”

Ayatollah Hadavi Tehranni noted, “Most importantly, one should pray wholeheartedly so that his prayer should leave an impact on his heart. He should invoke God with all his heart and if he does so, his wishes will be granted because God says ‘if you call upon Me sincerely, I will answer your call’.”

“God does not leave any prayer unanswered. Of course, there is no doubt that a wish is granted sometimes in the way it is wanted to be fulfilled. Sometimes, it is granted in a much better way that is beyond what the servant wants it to be fulfilled and it is fulfilled in its appropriate time,” Ayatollah Hadavi stated.

He added, “When God says, ‘call upon Me’, it is a promise on His part and God does not break his promise. God willing, all of us will benefit from this month and from this opportunity to spiritually promote and to communicate with God. The day of Eid-ul Fitr would be our Eid in connection with proximity to God."[1]
