According to Abna News Agency, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani speaking in a conference held by the legal – political commission of fifth general assembly of the Ahlul-Bait (A.S.) World Assembly, considered  the ‘Islamic awakening’ as an opportunity for Shi’ism. “Undoubtedly, what is currently going in the name of ‘Islamic awakening’ originates essentially in the Shia thinking.”

He went on saying that fighting against injustice and oppression has no place in the predominant thinking of Ahl-e Sunnah. The thought that injustice and oppression should be fought and confronted is a thinking of which Shia is the standard-bearer.

The president of the Porch of Wisdom Institute warned about the threats facing Shia and said, “Despite the fact that the ‘Islamic awakening’ is influenced by Shia thinking, a lot of efforts are underway to prevent any mention of Shia name in the various countries in which these uprisings are surging. Perhaps many individuals active in the developments may not know that these movements are following the Iranian and Shiite revolution model,” he said.

“Efforts are made to hide the Shia image and that of the revolution of Iran in these developments. Moreover, “Iranophobia” and “Shiaphobia” are on the top of the agenda of the Shia enemies,” Ayatollah Hadavi noted.

He went on saying that Shia is not a religion alongside other religions. Shia is the very pure and genuine Islam. Whatever Islam has asked Muslims and the interpretation that should be offered from Islam are manifested in the school of Ahlul-Bait, peace be upon them.

He further said, “The Wahabi and Takfiri (excommunicationist) movement among Muslims has unfortunately portrayed itself as the embodiment of the true Islam whereas Wahabism is a special interpretation which is bizarre, antagonistic and incongruous with the reality of Islam and with all other existing interpretations from Islam.”

Ayatollah Hadavi underscored the necessity of emphasizing on Shia as the expression of true Islam. He said that some anti-Shia movements are trying to introduce Shia as an interpretation alongside other interpretations from Islam or as an interpretation antagonistic to Islam. “This is something which we must be wary of and must encounter seriously,” he stressed.

At the end, Ayatollah Hadavi underlined the necessity of exploiting the existing capacity of social networks to introduce Shiism. He appealed the followers of the Ahlul-Bait (A.S.) to be seriously and actively present in these networks.
