Shaykh Hassan Muballeghi, a Shiite cleric from Cameroon—a country in west Central Africa – met Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani Saturday 17 July 2012 in the Porch of Wisdom Institute building. He gave a brief account of his activities in Africa.

H. Muballeghi is known to be a successful preacher in Africa. During his meeting with Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani, he talked about the challenges facing religious activities in Africa. He underscored the importance of Iran’s support for Islam and Shi’ism discourse in Africa describing the tendency to the school of Ahlul-Bait, peace be upon them, in Africa in general and in Cameroon in particular as widespread. “The tendency is to the extent that it has attracted the attention of some Cameroonian media making them cover and broadcast the events and activities taking place within the Cameroonian Shia community,” Muballeghi said.

In this meeting in which Harun, a Cameroonian student of Imam Khomeini university and French translator of the Porch of Wisdom Institute, was also in attendance, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani underlined the necessity of activities on the part of indigenous personalities in Africa. He said that there were good opportunities for propagating Shiism because of low level sensitivity towards such activities there.
