Making the remarks in a meeting with Iranian senior cleric Ayatollah Mahdi Hadavi Tehrani on Thursday, he thanked the ayatollah for accepting the invitation of the Malaysian prime minister to take part in the international conference of Global Movement of Moderates. He said it was very important for his country to have extensive and consolidated ties with Iran as an Islamic state. The Malaysian minister further welcomed proposals by Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani to hold similar global events on Hajj, proximity among religions and Islamic unity. Ayatollah Hadavi, too, said such global events help illuminate the true spirit of Islam to the world. He further outlined Iran’s achievements in the area of creating and promoting proximity among religions in the world and the Islamic unity and voiced Iran’s readiness to train religious students from Malaysia in its theological centers[1].
