Can we not cover all of our hair due to hair loss and because the doctor has asked us to do so?
I do not belong to a religious family. My parents do believe in Allah and Islamic teachings yet hardly offer prayers. Subsequently, I too did not have much strong religious hold. However suddenly I was diverted to Islam and since 18 years of my age I have been offering prayer and trying to follow Islam as much possible. However last year I had decided to go for hijab but my family resented which I resisted and continued covering my hair. But now I am losing my hair and the doctor advised me not to cover it firmly and since then I am covering my hair with duppatta making sure that most of my hair is covered. Is this permissible for me?

The office of the Grand Ayatullah Mahdi Hadavi Tehrani:

If covering the hair is harmful to her, she has to cover it as much as possible from non-mahrams, not any more than that. In this case, when it is harmful to her, she must try not to confront non-mahrams as much as possible (so that they don’t see her hair).
