Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani’s Speeches in Iraq

On the sidelines of the Supreme Council of Ahlul-Bait Worldly Assembly meeting, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani delivered several speeches. A brief account of the points he raised in his speeches is as follows:

A speech delivered in the holy city of Karbala

In this speech which was delivered in a gathering of Iranians in the holy city of Karbala on 8 April 2012 , Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani elaborated on the manners of spiritual relationship with the Infallibles and also the barriers to such a relationship. He pointed out that committing a sin is one of the most important barriers to the sin.

A speech presented in a gathering of Imamiyah doctors in Iraq

Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani delivered another speech in English in a gathering of Shia doctors on 10 April 2012. Focusing on Islam’s written thought and its systematic approach to medicine, he highlighted the differences between medicine in Quranic verses and prophetic traditions and medicine studied by Muslim doctors across the Islamic world. He underlined the point that Muslim doctors had, in the past, benefited from medical information existing in the verses and narration but they did not necessarily have all their medical knowledge from these doctrines.

A speech delivered in Imam Al-Mahdi Model Religious School in Najaf

This speech was delivered in Arabic on 11the April in Imam Al-Mahdi Religious School which is headed by Hojjatoleslam Qubbanchi. The points he discussed and stressed upon in his speech are the following:

1. The students and teachers of the Islamic seminary should make use of all available opportunities to acquire traditional religious sciences as well as modern and unconventional education which is the need of the day in promulgating and preaching the religion.

2. The students should acquaint themselves with the language and culture of their audience in a way such that they can answer the contemporary intellectual needs in various societies.

3. All students should try to learn a foreign language and to get acquainted with the cyberspace (internet).

4. Scientific growth in the Islamic seminary is a must but it is not realized without improving morality and spirituality.

At the end, Ayatollah Hadavi Tehrani took a few question raised by a number of the students in the gathering concerning the requirements of admission and studying in the Islamic Seminary of Qom.
